Statement of Shiite Leaders and Qatif.doc Statement of Shiite Leaders and Qatif

Shaikh Fawzi Alsaif Editor

Shiite religious leaders and Qatif's intellectuals had issued a statement over Alawammia events in which they called for the necessity of ending all forms of hatred and sectarian discrimination, criminating them by the law and banning them in channels of media and school curricula. They reaffirmed their obligation to national unity and their rejection to any call that threatens the nation's unity.
Text of the Statement
In The Name of Allah, The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful
We pray to Allah the Almighty to preserve the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and to be with him in defending the oppressed and assisting the vulnerable. We, also, pray to Allah to make our nation safe and stable in which justice, equality, and harmony are prevalent as what the King had declared in his first speech after the pledge.
In the light of the unfortunate events that are taking place in Alawmmia town, we; the Shiites of Qatif confirm, in the same time we call for justice and equality between all citizens whether in rights or duties regardless of their sects, the necessity of ending all forms of hatred and sectarian discrimination, criminating them by the law and banning them in channels of media, school curricula, publications, speeches, fatwas and websites. Moreover, we reaffirm our obligation to the country's unity and our rejection to any call that threatens the nation's unity to stand side-by-side with our government.
Calming down the conditions in the region is the duty of all; the government and citizens. We hope that attention and care would be provided to Alawammia's citizens of releasing the detainees and stopping the prosecution of wanted in order to spread the culture of a whole society the recognizes people pluralism, equality in rights and duties, and rejects sectarian discrimination. We all must combat this such kind of discrimination through peaceful and civilized approaches.
